Blend grated coconut, chana dal, green chillies, ginger, and salt with a little water to a smooth paste.

Adjust consistency by adding more water if needed. Transfer to a serving bowl.

Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add curry leaves and dried red chilli.

Pour the tempering over the chutney. Mix well and serve with dosa, idli, or vada.
